There is a wonderful vocalist from Addison, Texas who has all the right ingredients of becoming the next jazz sensation. Rosana Eckert is the artist and the CD in question is At The End Of The Day. Very few new jazz vocalist past the 1970's were able to establish themselves as a driven force. Most of them were just simply copying the styles of all the great jazz vocalist before them and not creating a voice of their own. That is not the case with Rosana; this young lady is smooth, sincere, and flexible. Not afraid to test the boundries of many styles, Eckert exhibits amazing versatility and confidence. At The End Of The Day is a well assorted combination of classic jazz standards like Johnny Mercer's "Something's Gotta Give", Johnny Mandel's "You are There", Benny Carter's "Rock Me To Sleep" and Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Ela E Carioca," and they are all given first-rate treatment. The remainder of At The End Of The Day is written solely by Rosana or in collaboration her husband/percussionist Gary Eckert. "I Know I've Seen This Thing Before Seen", "For Elizabeth", and "You're Making Me Crazy" are outstanding gems demonstrating the Eckerts' amazing and thought provoking songwriting abilities. 2004 was a strong year for artist paying homage to the roots of jazz. We encountered many great recordings by signed and unsigned artists, some okay, and some amazingly brilliant. Despite all the energy given to jazz this year, Rosana Eckert is the brightest new star to emerge from the jazz world. Do yourself a favor; don't allow 2004 to pass without of copy of At The End Of The Day. It's the perfect CD to end 2004 with.
