I had the pleasure of hearing Rosana at a concert at North Texas State while performing there myself with New York Voices not too long ago and was immediately impressed by her many talents. Upon listening to this CD all those initial feelings were reconfirmed and then some - Rosana has one of my favorite kind of voices, where there's a real person behind the sound, a naturalness and sincerity that is completely compelling (and rare I think). Her naturalness reminds me of one of my all-time favorite jazz singers, Irene Kral (Rosana even does her own version of an Irene classic, 'Rock Me to Sleep'). Rosana has a beautiful rich tone that is powerful when she wants it to be, but never has to try too hard. Her improvisational ideas and rhythmic sense are both very strong as well, as are her beautiful original tunes.
